Sound has been part of my life and work for more than ten years. During this 5-day Sound Healing Training in Portugal, I share the instruments, techniques and experiences that have shaped my own journey with sound.
The training takes place in our Sound Dome in the mountains of Monchique, in the Algarve. It is designed for beginners as well as for people who already work with yoga, bodywork, meditation, therapy or other healing practices. You do not need any musical experience.
Over five days, you will explore gongs, Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, voice, rhythm, vibration and the creation of complete sound journeys. The training combines practical learning, personal experience and enough space to discover your own way of working with sound.
What Is a 5-Day Sound Healing Training?
A 5-day Sound Healing Training is more than learning how to play individual instruments. It is an intensive practical journey into sound, vibration, resonance and the way different instruments can work together.
During the training, you will not only explore how to create sounds, but also how to listen, how to build a safe and supportive space and how to guide a complete Sound Healing Journey from beginning to end.
We work in a small group, which allows enough time for questions, personal guidance and hands-on practice. Every participant has the opportunity to play the instruments, experiment with different combinations and gradually develop more confidence.
What you will learn
During the training, you will learn how to work with different instruments and how to bring them together in a meaningful way. The focus is not on playing perfectly, but on understanding how sound, rhythm, frequency and silence can shape an experience.
Gongs
You will explore different playing techniques, dynamics and ways of using gongs within a Sound Healing Journey. We also look at how several gongs can be combined without overwhelming the space.
Tibetan and Crystal Singing Bowls
You will learn how to play bowls clearly and steadily, how to combine different tones and how to use bowls for grounding, transition and deep relaxation.
Voice, Mantra and Overtone
We work with the voice as an instrument, including simple vocal exercises, mantra and overtone elements. No singing experience is required.
Rhythm, Silence and Sound Design
You will learn how to structure a complete session, create transitions, build intensity and use silence as an important part of the journey.
Hands-On Practice and Creating Your Own Sound Journey
A large part of the training is practical. You will have time to explore the instruments yourself, practise different techniques and experience how sound changes depending on touch, intention, rhythm and volume.
Step by step, you will learn how to bring individual elements together and create your own complete Sound Healing Journey. You will practise opening a session, building a natural flow, guiding transitions and bringing the experience to a calm and grounded ending.
There is no single correct way to create a Sound Healing Journey. The aim is to give you a clear foundation while supporting you in finding your own authentic style. Everything is optional, and nothing is required.
Who Is This Training For?
This training is open to beginners as well as to people who already work with sound, yoga, meditation, bodywork, therapy, coaching or other forms of healing and personal development.
You do not need any previous musical experience. What matters most is curiosity, openness and the willingness to explore sound through direct experience.
The training may be especially valuable if you would like to:
include sound in your existing work
guide your own Sound Healing Journeys
develop more confidence with instruments
deepen your personal connection with sound and vibration
learn in a practical and supportive group setting
The Training Location in Monchique, Portugal
The training takes place at Quinta for Sound Healing in Monchique, in the Algarve region of Portugal. Surrounded by mountains, nature and quiet, the location offers a supportive setting for focused learning and personal experience.
The sessions are held in our geodesic Sound Dome, a dedicated space created for sound work, meditation and group experiences. Its shape and acoustics allow the instruments to be experienced in a particularly direct and immersive way.
Between the sessions, there is time to rest, connect with the group and enjoy the natural surroundings. The training is not only about learning techniques, but also about stepping out of everyday routines and giving sound your full attention.
What Makes This Training Different?
This training is based on more than ten years of practical experience with Sound Healing Journeys, group work and a wide range of instruments. The focus is not on following a fixed formula, but on learning how to listen, respond and work with what is present in the moment.
You will experience how Planetary Gongs, Tibetan and crystal bowls, voice, monochord, handpan, flutes, drums and other instruments can be used individually and in combination. We do not try to use every instrument at once. Instead, we explore how to choose sounds consciously and create space for each one.
The training combines clear practical guidance with freedom and personal exploration. You receive a strong foundation, but you are also encouraged to discover your own way of working with sound.
What Is Included in the Training?
The 5-day training includes practical teaching, guided exercises, demonstrations, personal practice and group Sound Healing Journeys. You will have the opportunity to work directly with a wide range of instruments and to receive individual guidance throughout the training.
The training also includes:
five days of in-person training
practical work with gongs, singing bowls, voice and other instruments
guided exercises and partner practice
time to develop and practise your own Sound Healing Journey
a detailed training manual
a certificate of completion
space for questions, reflection and personal integration
Do You Need to Bring Your Own Instruments?
No. You do not need to bring your own instruments. A wide range of gongs, Tibetan and crystal singing bowls, drums, flutes, monochord, handpan and other instruments is available during the training.
Bringing your own instrument is optional. It can be useful if you already have one and would like to learn more about how to work with it, but it is not required.
The training is also a good opportunity to experience different instruments before deciding what you may want to buy for your own practice.
Accommodation and Meals
Accommodation is available directly at Quinta for Sound Healing, so participants can stay on site throughout the training. This creates a relaxed atmosphere and allows the group to remain connected without needing to travel between sessions.
The Quinta offers different types of accommodation, surrounded by nature and within walking distance of the centre of Monchique. Details about the available rooms, meals and current prices are provided with each training date.
Staying on site is recommended, but participants who live nearby may also attend the training without accommodation.
Your Teacher and My Approach
I have been working with Sound Healing Journeys for more than ten years. My approach has developed through direct experience with groups, instruments, meditation, energy work and many different forms of inner exploration.
I am a Reiki Master and have also worked with Kundalini Inner Dance for many years. These experiences influence the way I understand sound—not as a performance, but as a space for listening, connection, awareness and personal experience.
During the training, I share what has worked for me in practice. I offer clear guidance, but I do not expect participants to copy my way of working. My aim is to help you build confidence, understand the instruments and gradually discover your own authentic approach to sound.
Do I need musical experience?
No. You do not need any musical background or previous experience with instruments. The training is designed to be accessible for beginners, while still offering depth for participants who already work with sound.
Will I be able to guide my own Sound Healing Journey after the training?
The training gives you a clear practical foundation and the opportunity to create and practise your own complete Sound Healing Journey. How quickly you feel ready to guide others depends on your own confidence, practice and experience after the training.
Is the training taught in English?
Yes. The training is taught in English. I am a native German speaker, so German-speaking participants can also ask questions or request explanations in German at any time. The English is kept clear and accessible, and questions are always welcome.
Do I receive a certificate?
Yes. After completing the 5-day training, you will receive a certificate of completion.
